The starting inspiration for this card was a the combining of a sketch and colour challenge. The colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts was already closed, but that meant I could sneak in an extra colour (it's only the tiniest bit of yellow in the flower centres). The sketch challenge is FMS 220 at Freshly Made Sketches. I used stamp sets I have had for a while now but haven't seen nearly enough ink. Making this card I was reminded of just how much I like coordinating stamp & framelit or stamp and punch sets as I fussy cut out the dragon fly! The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings and I used the 'Hope your day is wonderful!' stamp inside the card. I love the font used in the sentiments of this set. I also used one of my favourite new goodies, the Wink of Stella clear glitter brush on the dragon fly to give the wings a hint of sparkle. I think I have actually managed to capture a bit of the sparkle in this close up! I coloured the leaves using a Mint Macaron marker, and the flowers using an aqua painter and some ink lifted from my Melon Mambo stamp pad on a clear block. Thanks for stopping by!

This is simple card inspired by a sketch challenge at CAS(E) this Sketch. The sentiment is from a hostess set in the current Stampin' Up Annual Catalogue. The butterfly image was white embossed then punched out and folded to give the wings a little bit of lift. The tiny flowers are from my new favourite thing: the Botanical Builder framelits. Very happy! Yesterday I said good-bye to these instruments of torture and my mobility is significantly improved. I am not at all sorry to see them go. I'm still slow - my foot is a bit painful and not quite fully functioning yet but getting around the house is so much easier. And more importantly, I can now carry stuff (like a cup of coffee!). It has been a challenging (and loooong) 5 weeks on crutches to say the least.
The Wildflower Fields DSP (a Sale-A-Bration freebie) conveniently has BlackBerry Bliss and Lost Lagoon so the colour challenge part was easy! I flipped the sketch and cut the DSP on an angle but I think I should have made the space between the pieces just a fraction wider. This layout is a great way to use up some of those leftover strips of DSP that you may have stashed away. The butterfly has a little sparkle applied using a Wink of Stella Clear pen but capturing the sparkle in a photograph is pretty much impossible!

So I bet you can't guess what my favourite product suite from the new Occasions Catalogue is? Yep, it's Botanical Gardens. I especially love the framelits. I was finding the colours of the DSP a little challenging to work with so went back to an old favourite - Melon Mambo. I made this for The Challenge #55 (a sketch) at Always Playing With Paper. It didn't quite come together as I had pictured but it has some of the components - I think I might have been closer if I had used a different sized card (maybe square?). I used a piece if the Botanical Gardens designer vellum which is one of the SAB choices - designed to coordinate with the Botanical Gardens DSP but it's great on it's own.
