Sorry it's been so long! I don't have any excuses really but I have been scrapbooking - my first attempt & it is a slow process! I am making an album of our recent holiday to Hong Kong. However, Stampin' Up has a new Annual Catalogue (well new as of June 1st) and I have some very cool new stamps and thinlits that need to be used!
This is a card that I made for a sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches using my new Touches of Texture stamp set. I did use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to 'line up' the colours more easily as I have the set in wood mount but I don't think it needs to be precise. I used some of the new Copper Metallic Thread to wrap around for the horizontal element. The sentiment is from Balloon Celebrations, and punched out with the now retired Washi Label Punch and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals. I also used a long retired distressing kit to rough up the edges of the stamped layer and sponged the edges with the 'Tea Stain' ink that was part of the kit. It has come out quite yellow looking so I think something like So Saffron would be a reasonable substitute, or even Daffodil Delight matching the flower colour. This card is another CASE. See the original card on Dawn's Stamping Thoughts here. The birthday cake sentiment is cut with a thinlit from the Party Pop-Up set. The letters and candle flames have a little sparkle added with Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush - unfortunately it's very difficult to photograph and makes the letters look a bit blurry in this picture. The streamers are part of the second thinlit in the set. The background DSP is from the Cherry on Top stack that is now retired.

The starting inspiration for this card was a the combining of a sketch and colour challenge. The colour challenge at Pals Paper Arts was already closed, but that meant I could sneak in an extra colour (it's only the tiniest bit of yellow in the flower centres). The sketch challenge is FMS 220 at Freshly Made Sketches. I used stamp sets I have had for a while now but haven't seen nearly enough ink. Making this card I was reminded of just how much I like coordinating stamp & framelit or stamp and punch sets as I fussy cut out the dragon fly! The sentiment is from Cottage Greetings and I used the 'Hope your day is wonderful!' stamp inside the card. I love the font used in the sentiments of this set. I also used one of my favourite new goodies, the Wink of Stella clear glitter brush on the dragon fly to give the wings a hint of sparkle. I think I have actually managed to capture a bit of the sparkle in this close up! I coloured the leaves using a Mint Macaron marker, and the flowers using an aqua painter and some ink lifted from my Melon Mambo stamp pad on a clear block. Thanks for stopping by!

The Wildflower Fields DSP (a Sale-A-Bration freebie) conveniently has BlackBerry Bliss and Lost Lagoon so the colour challenge part was easy! I flipped the sketch and cut the DSP on an angle but I think I should have made the space between the pieces just a fraction wider. This layout is a great way to use up some of those leftover strips of DSP that you may have stashed away. The butterfly has a little sparkle applied using a Wink of Stella Clear pen but capturing the sparkle in a photograph is pretty much impossible!
