Twice in one day!

I'd be shocked too ;) but I had to post these cards as the linky closes soon.  My next make was for Freshly Made Sketches challenge 295.  I wasn't that impressed with how the first one came out so I made another one using a different stamp from the same, unfortunately retired, set and even better it's a start for Christmas.  The challenge sketch is below:

And here are my two attempts:

It's been soooo long!

Wow, sorry, it's been a long, long time since I posted!  A few things have happened since then though - like we've moved to the other side of the country...  We're now residing in sunny (at least some of the time) Queensland.  There is a bit of chaos associated with moving!  I've finally stopped procrastinating and am looking for my crafting mojo.  I decided to start with a sketch challenge from CAS(E) this Sketch!  This is the sketch:

And here is my card.  It didn't quite turn out as I'd pictured - I thought the 'brickwork' would stand out a bit more when I stamped the panel (Early Espresso) so I sponged with Crumb Cake which did give slightly more definition. The dragonfly and sentiment are given a bit of sparkle with Wink of Stella - I used the now retired gold but the clear would work just as well. Have I mentioned that I love these dragonfly dies??

CAS(E) this Sketch #184 Flourish Birthday

This is my offering for CAS(E) this Sketch! # 184. I have reverted to a limited colour palette for this card (yes, still having trouble with colours ;) ).  I used the new Flourish thinlits for the flowers (I love these delicate dies!) in Melon Mambo and the sentiment, frame and coordinating framelit is from the Rose Garden thinlits and Rose Wonder photopolymer stamp set combo.  I have 'fancied' up the flowers with some White Perfect Accents which I had thought were retired but am pleased to report are still available. I did notice as I was photographing the card that my layers aren't straight :( But as I always say "That's how you know I made it!".  This is the sketch:

And my interpretation:
The fine point glue pen is great for applying tiny amounts of adhesive to centre portions of the delicate flowers & I've curled up the outer petals a little.  The sentiment is popped up with dimensionals.  Thanks for looking!

Touch of Texture for FMS 248

Sorry it's been so long!  I don't have any excuses really but I have been scrapbooking - my first attempt & it is a slow process!  I am making an album of our recent holiday to Hong Kong.  However, Stampin' Up has a new Annual Catalogue (well new as of June 1st) and I have some very cool new stamps and thinlits that need to be used!

This is a card that I made for a sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches using my new Touches of Texture stamp set.  I did use my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig to 'line up' the colours more easily as I have the set in wood mount but I don't think it needs to be precise.  I used some of the new Copper Metallic Thread to wrap around for the horizontal element.  The sentiment is from Balloon Celebrations, and punched out with the now retired Washi Label Punch and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.  I also used a long retired distressing kit to rough up the edges of the stamped layer and sponged the edges with the 'Tea Stain' ink that was part of the kit.  It has come out quite yellow looking so I think something like So Saffron would be a reasonable substitute, or even Daffodil Delight matching the flower colour. This is the sketch that my card (somewhat loosely!) is based on:

And my take on the sketch:
